Amba Aradam-Ipponio is an underground station of Line C of the Rome Metro. The station will be located between two important interchanges of the Roman metro system – the station Fori Imperali-Colosseo (Line B) and San Giovanni (Line A). The station is about 120m long, 31m wide and is xxx m deep below the ground surface. The top down construction method was adopted with diaphragm walls as the retaining structure, 45m long and 1.2m thick and with the underground structure slabs as supporting structures. During excavation, a Roman barracks dating back to the 2nd century AD was unearthed 9 metres below street level.
